What to expect from our Birthlight pregnancy Aqua Yoga class
Our Birthlight aquanatal classes are receommend by the Royal college of Midwifes (RCM) Movements and rotations have been adapted for the water making them achievable and comfortable for pregnant and postnatal women and can be very beneficial if you are suffering from backache, pelvic pain , SPD, PGP and other pregnancy related symptoms. You do not need to have practiced aqua natal before or be a swimmer. Aquatic Harmony aqua natal is a wonderful pregnancy fitness and relaxation class and ideal way to encourage your pre-baby body back after the birth of your baby.
Breach, transverse and back to back babies: We also have gentle movements and rotations that we use to turn breach, transverse and back to back, and have succesfully turned many babies over the years to the correct birthing position, allowing mothers to birth their baby naturally.
Breathing exercises: The practice of deeper, more expansive breathing which has many benefits for mother and baby. This can be practiced through all stages of pregnancy, labour and birth. Breathing techniques train the muscles of the pelvis to become involved in full breathing, providing a powerful tool for labour. Postnatal breathing is used to "close the body" working the pelvic floor, spine and tummy muscles.
Relaxation: Every class we take time to relax and spend time with your baby in or out of the womb. Floating in water offers excellent relaxation supported with floats to ensure you can fully relax and connect with your baby, such a benefical timeout for busy mummies to be giving you well earned "you" time in the water.
Preparing for birth: In our aqua natal classes you will learn movements and breathing that you can use day to day during your pregnancy and also movements and breathing that will assist you during labour.
Adapted Swimming: Swimming is the best form of exercise for pregnant women. Our classes teach the correct adaptations of classic swimming strokes in which to accommodate your bump, support the pelvis and any changes in your body. Swimming when Pregnant and being in the water is a fablous way to take the weight off and be supported.
Support: Everyone in the class will be on the same exciting path in motherhood. Our classes will provide full support to both mums-to-be and new mums whilst giving an opportunity to get to know other woman in the group... Some great friendships have developed through the years. And many mums carry onto our baby swim classes when baby is born
What to expect from our combined Postnatal and Baby swim classes:
We hold our combined post natal and baby swim classes at The Penny Porter Hydro pool in Henbury and soon coming to Bristol North Hydro Pool Gloucester Road our classes give mums the opportunity to do post natal exercises in the water whilst their little ones sit safely in their car seats watching mum in the pool. We then bring baby into the pool for more gentle exercise and moves and some lovely relaxing swimming holds introducing baby to the water.
Spaces are limited so booking is essential.
What to expect from our aqua postnatal exercise classes:
We hold our post natal classes at The Mecure Holland House on Sunday evening so that the majority of our mummies can have child care cover. Our classes give mums the opportunity to carry out gentle but effective post natal exercises where you are supported by the water. The exercises we use assist the pelvic floor, tummy, back and excremities to tone and become strong again after the birth of your baby. Exercising in the water insures your body will work harder 12 times in fact as you are working against and with the water making each movement harder than if you were on dry land. We use woggles and floats and also combine yoga stretches, movements and breathing to achieve an effective workout for your postnatal body. This is a fantastic class to join with fellow new mummies or to meet new mummies, you can join as early as 8 weeks (after your check up with your doctor).
